A Romantic DIY That Looks Straight Out of Pemberley

Have you ever dreamed of receiving a love letter from Mr. Darcy himself? Me too. That’s the spirit behind today’s dreamy cottagecore project — a delicate pressed flower frame that captures all the regency romance of Pride and Prejudice with just a few dollar store supplies.

Whether you’re decorating your reading nook, planning a garden party, or just want to add a little soft romance to your space, this craft feels personal, poetic, and oh so pretty.

And yes, it’s fabulously affordable.

✨ What You’ll Need:

  • 5x7 or 8x10 dollar store frame (or thrifted vintage frame)

  • Pressed flowers (real or faux, even floral stickers work in a pinch)

  • Printed love letter or vintage script background

(Tip: Search “free vintage letter printable” or use a quote from Jane Austen in a pretty script font)

  • Lace trim, faux pearls, or ribbon (optional embellishments)

  • Small paper envelope and faux wax seal sticker (optional)

  • Glue stick or Mod Podge

  • Scissors

  • Tweezers (helpful for placing tiny florals)

🌸 Step-by-Step Instructions:

1. Choose your letter background.

Find or write a beautiful love letter or Austen quote. Print it on cream or parchment-style paper for that aged look.

One of my favorites: “You must allow me to tell you how ardently I admire and love you.”

2. Press your flowers (or faux it).

Use pre-pressed flowers or press your own a few days ahead of time. No real florals? No problem. Faux flowers trimmed flat or botanical stickers work just as well.

3. Arrange your scene.

Lay out your letter and position flowers around the edges, or create a delicate “falling petals” effect like a page caught in the wind. This is your regency moment. Make it personal.

4. Add romantic embellishments.

Wrap lace trim around the mat or inner frame, add a small envelope to one corner, or place faux pearl accents for that vintage glam vibe.

5. Assemble and seal the frame.

Glue everything down, let it dry, then place it inside your frame. If your frame has glass, you can leave it out for a more 3D effect. It feels more like a shadowbox that way.

📸 Styling Tip:

Display your keepsake frame next to a teacup, vintage book, or candle for a perfect vignette. Snap a photo near a window with soft lighting to create that dreamy cottagecore glow.

💡 Budget Diva Tip:

Pressed flowers too pricey online? Use flower-patterned napkins, cutouts from thrifted floral stationery, or snip petals from faux flower stems at Dollar Tree.

🪞Why This Project Works:

This isn’t just a pretty piece of décor. It taps into the emotional power of story. Readers feel something when they see a love letter framed with flowers. It’s romantic. It’s nostalgic. It’s powerful. And when you make it with your own hands, it becomes even more meaningful.

💕 Final Thoughts:

Crafting doesn’t have to be complicated or expensive to be beautiful. With a little imagination (and a dash of Mr. Darcy), you can bring elegance and storybook charm to your space while staying fabulously on budget.
