So, youāre thinking about launching a digital product shop ā maybe some SVGs, a few Canva templates, or even dipping your toe into the wild world of Etsy. First of all⦠yay, you!
š Thatās a big deal, friend.
But before you get too far into designing the perfect logo or debating whether your font should be "vintage farmhouse" or "minimal boho," let me save you a little time (and a whole lot of second-guessing).
Here are 5 things I wish someone had told me before I launched my own digital product shop.
1. āPerfectā is a trap. Start messy.
I spent weeks obsessing over brand colors, overthinking my product descriptions, and changing my banner six times before I ever hit publish.
You know what wouldāve been better? Actually publishing.
Hereās the truth: Youāll get clarity from action, not perfection. Your first listing wonāt be perfect. Thatās okay. Itās not supposed to be.
Buzz-Worthy Truth: The only way to get better⦠is to begin.
2. You donāt need a million products to launch.
I thought I had to have an entire digital empire ready to go on day one. Spoiler alert: you donāt.
Start with 3ā5 strong, well-made listings. Get feedback. Learn what sells. Then build from there.
Quality > quantity, every time.
3. Etsy isnāt a ābuild it and they will comeā situation.
Etsyās amazing, but itās not magic. You still need to do your part ā create SEO-friendly titles and tags, promote your shop, and build your audience.
The good news? Once you learn the ropes, itās not as scary as it sounds.
(And hey, Iāll be here to help.)
4. Tech overwhelm is real ā but beatable.
Between mockups, file formats, Canva quirks, and learning what in the world a āzip folderā is⦠I nearly tapped out. More than once.
What I didnāt realize is that most of the tech has workarounds. Templates. Tools. Tutorials.
You donāt need to be a coding wizard ā you just need the right resources.(Guess whoās building those for you? š)
5. Your mindset matters more than your logo.
I used to think branding was the key. And sure, a cute logo doesnāt hurt ā but your belief in yourself as a creator and a business owner? Thatās what fuels the whole hive.
Buzz-Worthy Reminder: Confidence is built. Youāre not āfaking itā ā youāre becoming it.
